PERU: LUNG OF THE WORLD


No doubt Peru is a country blessed by the Mother Nature, the best example of this, is its biodiversity, PERU is one of the 17Th countries which form the Group of Like-Minded Mega diverse countries, and this is a selected group that harbors the majority of the Earth’s species and therefore they are considered extremely biodiverse. 
This group is formed by: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Congo, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, United States and Venezuela. This 17 countries host more than 70% of the Earth’s biodiversity, in this list Peru occupied the 5th place.
Focusing in Peru, this country hosts 84 life zones of 104 recognized in the world, life zones are like climatic zones or also ecosystems, and this is the main reason why Peru has a great biodiversity, Peru contains more than 1800 species of birds(120 of them endemics), 462 species of mammals, 395 species of reptiles, 408 species of amphibians, 3000 species of spiders, 2000 species of fishes and 4000 of butterflies this is about the fauna, about flora Peru owns 3000 species of potatoes, 25 species of chili peppers, 36 species of corns, 623 species of fruits, more 1400 species of medicinal plants, 1600 species of ornamentals plants, 3000 species of orchids and 1200 species of alimentary plants, WOW… a lot of numbers right, so with these amazing quantities there is no doubt that Peru is a country with a great global importance, considering that it has given to the world valuable alimentary resources such as potatoes and corns which are 2 of the 4 most important alimentary cultivations in the planet, is one of the biggest centers of  genetic diversity of cotton in the earth (Gossypium barbadense or Peruvian cotton)  which is an essential consumable good of genetic material for the improvement of cultivated cottons like Pima and Tanguis.  Peru owns more than 65 million hectares of forests, concerning to tropical forests we are the 4th in the world to own them. Why this is so important, because our forests retain 15000 million of tons of carbon dioxide which is the most dangerous polluting gas in our planet. Peru is a very important territory for the planet in the future, thanks to its important ecosystems such as humid topical forests, dry forests, punas, misty forests and very cold sea which retain a lot of carbon dioxide; all this ecosystems mentioned are high important for the planet on this century that we are suffering the global warming phenomenon, in a few words Peru is one of the earth’s lungs and it is a great part of the world wide ecosystems which are keeping alive to our planet.
As you can see Peru is a great destiny for ecological and nature lovers one of the most important reasons of tourism on the last years, it is the second best place for bird watching in the world, as well is a great place for the good food lovers due to its great variety of alimentary goods, it has a great  geographical diversity so if you like to enjoy  sightseeing experience it is a perfect place for your next trip, it great quality of cotton and the existence of Alpaca (one of the finest hair in the world) on the Andes make it one the best  place to get fine quality garment. So tell me is not Peru a great destination for you, we are waiting for you with the arms wide open.
